It's been an amazing time. A few months ago i was overwhelmed with so much love in Singapore. A month ago i celebrated my 21st with many loved ones. And just on Sunday i was baptized. Am enjoying life very much..college, uni, and all the stuff happening..and expecting more.

I'm not in control of what's happening - that tension, i feel very much. stuff to do, organise, etc but i'm strangely calm. i'm so thankful for the time i have to spend with Him, with myself, and.. just to write this.

I'd like to share with u a lullabye that I'm resting in.
(my older cousin gave me a children's cd of lullabyes for my birthday -Sing over me: Worship Songs and Lullabies- and very interestingly, the soothing melodies work well in bringing out the firm truth of God's faithfulness)

Do drop me an email to jus stay in touch :) I really appreciate the updates and..
am always keen to pray for you.

God bless you.

Erin O'Donnell \ Hold On To Jesus

You're a little piece of heaven
You're a golden ray of light
Ad I wish I could protect you
From the worries of this life
But if there's one thing I could tell you
It's no matter what you do
Hold to Jesus
He's holding on to you

The world will try to tell you
That might is more than right
That beauty's on the outside
And being good's a losing fight
But remember what I've told you
Because the world will make you choose
Hold to Jesus
He's holding on to you

Hold on to Jesus
Cling to His love
Rest deep in His mercy
Whenever things get rough
Don't lose sight of His goodness
And don't ever doubt this truth
That when you hold on to Jesus
He's holding on to you

Hear me dear Jesus
Rock this little one to sleep
Keep her close when she's scared
And give her grace when she is weak
I know she'll stumble
But I know she'll make it through
If you hold to her just like
You said You'd do
Hold her Jesus
And she'll hold on tight to You

Dear God, in the midst of the troubles and pain in the world, please help us keep our focus on you. In your light, we see light.

More poetry. My deepest apologies for those who don't like all these words. Don't try to dig your intellectual fangs into this one - it currently hangs heavy on my heart:

Song for a Dark Girl

Way Down South in Dixie
(Break the heart of me)
They hung my black young lover
To a cross roads tree.

Way Down South in Dixie
(Bruised body high in air)
I asked the white Lord Jesus
What was the use of prayer.

Way Down South in Dixie
(Break the heart of me)
Love is a naked shadow
On a gnarled and naked tree.

--Langston Hughes (1927)

Written in the aftermath of brutal slavery, in the chaos of crimes and cries to be heard, in the midst of lynchings, the Harlem Renaissance and voices attempting to be heard. So much pain, so much love, so much hatred in the world. And who is this "white Lord Jesus" superior and too awesome to answer humble prayers that plead for mercy? I don't know this white Lord Jesus. Oh, even, who made the white man our God and master? But love, oh love is Jesus, naked and in the shadow of death, humbly offering himself on a gnarled and naked tree. Here is the Jesus I still try to know and love everyday, who looks more like the black young lover hung on that cross roads tree, innocently and unjustly killed by cruel, mindless hatred.
