Hey all of you!! Happy Chinese New Year!! I just
wanted to advertise for 'FOR YOU DAY', coming up
on the 28th of January 2004!
So what is FOR YOU DAY??
It basically is a day when the council gives
something back to the school. It was first
started last year by the 27th Students' Council
when they baked 10000 cookies to give out for
free.
This year, FOR YOU DAY coincides with the 7th
day of CNY, that is, REN RI! Or Everyone's
B'day! So the 28th Students' Council has
prepared something special for all of you!
Tables in the void deck have already been
PREPARED for your class! So come down after
school, 1.50 p.m. to the VOID DECK where
there'll be a short celebration to usher in our
very own ANGLO-CHINESE NEW YEAR!
While being entertatined by ACJC DANCE which has
come up with an item especially for the
occasion, every class will be indulging in the
traditional LO HEI ceremony, right next to their
own senior/junior class! An ideal opportunity
for those who haven't had an SJI yet!
And of course, after the LO HEI ceremony, you
are allowed to sell your wares to raise funds
for Fun-O-Rama! What better opportunity to hawk
your stuff!?
So go tell it on the mountain and everywhere!
Come down for FOR YOU DAY, 1.50 pm, Void Deck
for a short LO HEI ceremony and lots of memories
to take back afterwards!

dear all, being extremely bored and full (of cny food and mindless tedium), i shall break my haitus from this blog.
a note regarding the year so far.
it didn't really hit until about the second week. it was like the AHH haunted house trailer. you wake up and realise that despite your best efforts, this is it. this is your A level year and you are in 2AH. there's so much mugging and training and crap to do that its disgusting. there's no more time to decorate the lecture notes in math, to have your eyes glaze over in e1, to gently slide lower and lower into your jacket and slumber during sea hist lecture. then there was the junior class. suddenly, you're older. you have a mortal under your metaphorical angel wings, whom you have to watch over. (whos' there to watch over you now?) for me, there was training. little innocent j1s who have no idea how to do a pushup, who giggle madly when they run. there were those who pushed their way through despite the pain and those who slacked and didn't care who saw it. the senior (maternal?) instinct was so strong i alternatively wanted to pick them up, dust them off and give them a hug, or slap them; they were just so stupid and clumsy.
then again. we were there last year. we were the ones who nodded off during rama's math lectures. we were the ones being deluged with sweets and encouraging notes from the senior class. we were the multi-pe-uniformed bunch who somehow made it through mass pe conducted by a man who shares the same name as a local comedian. i was the one being screamed at by my super powered seniors. looking back, you wonder who you ever made it and at the same time, you realise the inevitable.
you. have. to. grow. up. this is it. your j2 year. as the best rapper (a white man) went:
you only have one shot
do not miss your chance to blow
opportunity comes once in a lifetime.
whatever happens this year, happens. but it will only happen once. arts night. rashomon. fun-o-rama. term exams. competition. term exams. competition. prelims. uni applications. the unspeakable alphabet levels. liberty.
this is 2004. this is the year. we may never see each other again after this. luke will no longer mark attendance or crack bad puns, jon will no longer make us laugh during euro hist or strum, i will no longer zap gp packages or bully gloria chan. there will be no more watching eugene paste himself to the window. no more jibes about justin and dirt and alcohol. no more caleb singing, brandon drumming, joy and stella inspiring us into mugging frenzies. micht and yina wont sing funny songs or doodle little masterpieces. sunitha and josh wont demo impromptu dances. ashley and mich wont be there to poke fun at regarding their height. xiang wei and dawn quarell and insult each other no more. the music from mel and liz becomes out of reach, as does howard's long long long homilies.
time is short. there is but a year left to make it all up, to forge new bonds, to reach out and unite before we each become nothing but fading laughter that echoes down the halls of memory. to set some academic ladder for us that will extend to our future pathways. time is short and we have only a year.
don't waste it.
